7th/8th Grade Travel Volleyball ~ Sabish 2024

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year and the beginning of the volleyball season!

Teams/Games
During the first two days of volleyball, we will hold tryouts and up to about 12 players will make each travel team. Bussing is provided to and from away games and 7th and 8th grade teams will travel together. Students may choose to travel home with a parent as long as they sign out with a coach.  

Players who don’t get chosen for the travel team may continue to play volleyball in the Rec. Dept. program. This program will start once school begins, will include the 6th graders, and will include games against Woodworth and Theisen. Listen for announcements at school regarding when these practices will begin.

Practices
Players are expected to attend all practices unless absent from school or a note is provided from a parent/guardian. Failure to attend practice on a repeated basis may result in less playing time during games or even dismissal from the team. In addition, coaches will check with teachers frequently to make sure grades and behavior are where they need to be. Playing time may be affected for failing grades or behavior issues. 

Throughout the season, there will be a strong emphasis on hard work and team play. The girls will be expected to push themselves to improve their volleyball skills while working on cooperation and sportsmanship. Of course, we will also have a lot of fun!!

The first day of tryouts is Wed., August 21 at 3:30 until 4:45 (see full calendar below). Make sure you’re ready to go with athletic shoes, shorts, a t-shirt, and knee pads (encouraged, but not required).

Athletic Code Meeting
Players, along with a parent/guardian, need to attend the athletic code meeting on Open House night on August 27 at Sabish. You can choose to attend either before open house OR after open house. 

Required Forms 

• Emergency card

• Athletic code form (you will sign this after attending the code meeting)

• Concussion form

• $20 participation fee (cash or check payable to Sabish)

• Physicals - these are now optional at the middle school level

• Spirit Wear - Order forms will be available for optional volleyball spirit wear. 

Forms will be available during the first week of practice. Don’t worry about any of it ahead of time. However, participation is not allowed in games until forms are in and the fee is paid.
